Mayer Veterinary Hospital was established in September of 2004 by Dr. Bill Mayer, a native of Baton Rouge and graduate of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. He is married to Joanna Merrick, and, together, they have 4 children. Dr. Mayer’s professional interests are in companion animal medicine and surgery, while his hobbies include hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking.

Dr. Theriot was born and raised in Lafayette, LA. After graduating from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, he worked exclusively in equine practice in Southern Louisiana. In 2019, he began practicing small animal relief work in central and southern Louisiana. Dr. Theriot’s professional interests include emergency medicine, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. He strives to provide the highest level of Veterinary medicine for his patients in some of the most difficult times for his clients. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Theriot spends time with his two daughters, and enjoys playing golf and going hunting.

Annie joined the team in 2023 as the receptionist and quickly fell in love with the job. She has always wanted to work in the veterinary field, often playing “vet hospital” as a young child with their family dog and doing weekly “checkups” on him. She loves to help the team in any way she can while also giving lots of love to all of our patients!

Originally from the Shreveport area, Audrey joined our team the spring of 2026. She previously worked at boarding/daycare facilities around Louisiana before starting her veterinary journey with us. She is excited to learn more about the medical and technical side of the companion animal world!

Sarah has always had a passion for animals and has found immense joy in being able to assist in helping hurt and sick pets. Though she only joined our team in 2024, Sarah has been in the veterinary field since 2018. She looks forward to furthering her knowledge and continuing to give love and care to those in need.

Andrea started with us in 2026 and has been enjoying getting hands-on experience to support her ongoing Veterinary Technician education! Her passion for animal care started very young and has continued throughout her life, leading her to first join the veterinary field in 2024. Her main priorities while caring for our patients are always their safety and comfort.
